Additional Information

Jenny Nathans did her undergraduate studies at Yale University. In 2018, she joined the Cappell Lab as a postbaccalaureate researcher, where she worked on understanding how single cells response to DNA damage. She discovered that cells in G1 phase take two divergent trajectories after DNA damage, either routing backwards to G0 or forwards to S phase. The mechanism underlying this fate decision is the relatively slow induction of p53/p21 competing with the cells normal progression through G1 phase. Jenny is currently an MD/PhD candidate at the University of Washington and working in the lab of Dr. Jay Shendure in the Department of Genome Sciences. https://mstp.washington.edu/student/jenny-nathans/
