Masaki was a Postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Oberdoerffer’s lab, which was also funded by KAITOKU-NIH fellowship from JSPS and NIH’s FIC. His research project focused on a role of N4-acetylcytidine (ac4C) distributed in the 5’ Untranslated Region (5’UTR) of mRNAs. He set out in-vitro biochemical experiments including ribosome profiling, which demonstrates the functional relationship between translation initiation and ac4C in 5’UTR.
