Peng Jiang, Ph.D., Nirali N. Shah, M.D., M.H.Sc., and Ping Zhang, Ph.D.
The CCR community congratulates Peng Jiang, Ph.D., Nirali N. Shah, M.D., M.H.Sc., and Ping Zhang, Ph.D., on recently earning tenure in their respective labs, branches and centers.
Peng Jiang, Ph.D., has been appointed Senior Investigator in the Cancer Data Science Laboratory. Jiang's research is focused on developing integrative frameworks that leverage the big-data resources in public domains to identify regulators of cancer therapy resistance. His lab is developing statistical and machine learning infrastructures that transfer knowledge from a vast amount of previous data cohorts to the study of new cancer biology problems.
Nirali N. Shah, M.D., M.H.Sc., has been appointed Senior Investigator in the Pediatric Oncology Branch. Shah is a physician-scientist whose research focuses on the development of targeted immunotherapy approaches to treat high-risk blood cancers, such as leukemia and lymphoma, in children, adolescents and young adults. Her clinical trials focus on exploring and improving chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell based therapies and other antibody-based therapies to target surface proteins found on leukemia cells to improve outcomes for patients with blood cancers that do not respond to chemotherapy.
Ping Zhang, Ph.D., has been appointed Senior Investigator in the Center for Structural Biology. Zhang is a structural biologist investigating the molecular mechanisms of kinase signaling complexes in human health and disease states. Her laboratory applies cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), X-ray crystallography, and various biochemical and biophysical approaches to uncover the structure and regulation of biological kinase assemblies. Her research program aims to provide fundamental scientific knowledge that can ultimately contribute to the development of new therapeutic strategies.
