Dr. Varriano is an iCURE postdoctoral fellow. She obtained her BS in Biology at the Macaulay Honors College at College of Staten Island in Dr. Jimmie Fata’s laboratory and her doctoral degree from the Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology Ph.D. Program at The Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY) where she trained in Dr. Frida Kleiman’s laboratory. Sophia is the recipient of numerous scientific honors including a RISE fellowship, a U-54 Pre-Pilot award and membership in the Yale Ciencia Academy. Sophia's current work focuses on the identification of targetable factors involved in nicotinamide adenosine dinucleotide (NAD+) production and use in pediatric solid tumors. When she's not in the lab, you can find Sophia trying out fitness classes or exploring the area for new and interesting desserts.
