Our clinic is designed to provide each newly diagnosed prostate cancer patient a comprehensive consultation to discuss their diagnosis and treatment options. Many participants use this service to get a second opinion. With the patient’s permission, we keep their primary physician fully informed and will contact the patient's primary physician to coordinate care and follow-up plans.
Prostate Cancer Multidisciplinary Clinic
Prostate Cancer Multidisciplinary Clinic
About
Welcome. The NIH/NCI Prostate Cancer Multidisciplinary Clinic (PCMC) is a telehealth service (at no cost to the patient) for people newly diagnosed with localized prostate cancer who are seeking a second opinion and/or clinical trial opportunities. Specialists from across NCI come together to comprehensively examine cases, provide recommendations for care and determine potential clinical trial eligibility for patients. We offer a wide range of clinical trials investigating new treatments or new methods of observation.
This clinic is staffed by the NCI Urologic Oncology Branch, the Radiation Oncology Branch, the Medical Oncology Branch and the Genetics Branch, in addition to the Department of Molecular Imaging and Radiology and the Department of Pathology. This type of clinic is sometimes referred to as a tumor board.
Our clinic began in September 2008 and offers care to any patient with newly diagnosed, biopsy-proven prostate cancer. The clinic is federally funded and there is no cost to those receiving care at the NIH Clinical Center.
