RESEARCH SUMMARY
A recent graduate of The Ohio State University, Jonathan joined the WSH lab in the fall of 2021. His previous research focused on the impact of HIV-1 genomic RNA sequence on the RNA structure and protein:RNA interactions which govern HIV-1 biology. Now at the National Cancer Institute, Jonathan’s research goals have shifted to studying the dynamics of HIV-1 RNA expression in human cells, with a particular interest in how the 5’ end of HIV-1 unspliced RNA impacts its functions in the viral life cycle.
Areas of Expertise
1) HIV-1 RNA transcription and packaging 2) RNA Structure/function 3) Protein:RNA biochemistry 4) Biochemical RNA structural probing techniques
