2024 CEHCV Fall Think Tank
NCI’s CEHCV Fall Think Tank 2024 featured Dr. John Coffin (American Cancer Society Research Professor and Distinguished Professor, Molecular Biology and Microbiology, Tufts University School of Medicine) whose research is focused on the interaction of retroviruses with their host cells and organisms, including retroviral replication, disease induction, and evolution. Dr. Coffin was elected into the National Academy of Sciences in 1999. His keynote address was entitled, “Evolution of an endogenous retrovirus into a restriction factor”.
Additional invited speakers included:
Dr. Laurie Krug, Stadtman Investigator, Head, Gamma Herpesvirus Pathogenesis Section, HIV and AIDS Malignancy Branch
"Development of Kaposi sarcoma patient-derived xenografts to delineate mechanisms of virus-driven oncogenesis and therapeutic interventions"
Dr. Alex Compton, Head, Antiviral Immunity and Resistance Section, HIV Dynamics and Replication Program
"Nef from primary HIV-1 infection counteracts an interferon-stimulated transmembrane protein to boost virus infectivity"
