On October 24, 2023, President Biden awarded Steven A. Rosenberg, M.D., Ph.D., Chief of the Surgery Branch, the National Medal of Technology and Innovation for pioneering the development of immunotherapy. The award is the nation’s highest honor for technological achievement, bestowed by the president of the United States on America's leading innovators. Dr. Rosenberg is one of nine individuals and a team of three receiving the award this year.
