RESEARCH SUMMARY

Dr. Meltzer is a leader in the application of genome science to cancer research. His recent studies investigate the genetic and epigenetic basis of cancers in adult and pediatric patients, particularly those with bone and soft tissue sarcomas. Dr. Meltzer's long-term goal is to improve diagnosis and therapy through better understanding of the mechanisms driving tumor growth. As Branch Chief, Dr. Meltzer oversees a program focused on the mechanisms and consequences of genome instability, non-coding RNA biology, and translational genomics. Developing applications of genome technologies for the oncology clinic is an important priority within the Branch.
