Dr. Ming Li received BS in biomedical engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, MS Engineering in precision machinery engineering from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, & Ph.D. in computer science from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. She has been at the NIH since 2005, initially as a Staff Scientist in NHLBI, until 2017, when she joined CIO as a scientist contractor, working on novel visualization & navigation systems for minimally invasive interventions for cancer. She leads projects in augmented & mixed reality for percutaneous procedures, which enables smartphones and HoloLens to superimpose patient specific anatomy and surgical plans onto the patient, and provide real-time procedural guidance. 

Dr. Li’s research interests include surgical navigation, 3D visualization, AR/MR/VR, image guidance, robotic assistance. Her areas of expertise include image processing, imaging computing, computer vision, medical robotics, cloud computing, mobile devices, wearable devices, & AI.
