Hunter Stecko is a Medical Research Scholars Program (MRSP) Fellow for 2024-2025 and a medical student at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He earned a BSE in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a BA in Computer Science from Case Western Reserve University and worked as a Research and Development Engineer for Procter and Gamble prior to entering medical school. As an undergraduate and medical student, he has pursued diverse research in the use of computer vision in medical diagnostics, brain-computer interfacing, cancer genomics, and the intersection of medicine with religious faith. His research has been recognized with awards from the Ohio State University Plastic Surgery Department and Neuroimaging Research Institute. He is a member of the Gold Humanism Honors Society and an American Medical Association Physicians of Tomorrow award winner. At the NCI, Hunter is currently studying application of artificial intelligence and computer vision to prostate and other cancers under the amazing mentorship of Dr. Baris Turkbey. In his free time, Hunter enjoys playing the piano and violin, cooking, being a member of his church community, and staying active.
