Tina Fung is currently a Summer Intern through the Summer Internship Program (SIP) under the mentorship of Dr. Joe T. Nguyen, D.D.S., Ph.D. Tina is a second-year medical student at Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV. She obtained her B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chinese from the University of Nevada, Reno. During her undergraduate career, Tina investigated genetic differences between ectoparasites with a goal of expanding biodiversity for the chewing lice of the genus Myrsidea. In the Nguyen Lab, Tina is utilizing bioinformatics approaches to decipher single-cell RNA-seq analyses in murine-derived cancer cell lines to better understand trends and patterns in gene expression profiles for application in Head and Neck Cancers (HNC) as a whole.
