RESEARCH SUMMARY
Helen provides research and administrative support for the Pancreatic Cancer Section. She is in charge of the section's cell line repository, database management and lab supply and equipment management. She also oversees human tissue procurement and database management under NCI-UMD contract and is listed as the COR.

Biography
Helen Cawley
Helen has a B.A. in Biology from St. Olaf College and started working in the Biochemistry Department at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in 1990. Her early work in virology led her to apply to the National Cancer Institute where she was hired as a Biologist in 1992. Her major focus of research was to detect circulating antibodies to p53 in cancer patients and high-risk populations to find a link between antibody levels and disease. She left lab work in 2002 to focus on her family and was honored to be hired back in 2021. In between she worked many volunteer hours in the public schools, worked as the head of Hurman Resources for the Triage Group, was a coordinating editor at AAAS for "Science Advances" and also worked a contract Scientist at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
