RESEARCH SUMMARY
Francis Flomerfelt heads a transplantation immunology research facility that supports the Laboratory of Pathology through the collection of biospecimens, assistance with the preclinical development of adoptive T cell therapies, and the monitoring of engraftment, immune reconstitution, graft versus leukemia (GVL), and graft versus host disease (GVHD) following allogeneic transplantation.
Areas of Expertise
Research
The Preclinical Development & Clinical Monitoring Facility (PDCMF) provides research support for the Laboratory of Pathology involving a range of adoptive T cell immunotherapies. A major role of the PDCMF is supporting clinical protocols by collecting biospecimens. The Facility provides centralized processing and secure storage for blood, bone marrow and other biospecimens collected under clinical protocols. The Facility also provides molecular and cellular analyses in support of clinical research endpoints. Personnel within the Facility assist with the preclinical development of adoptive T cell therapies, and monitoring of engraftment, immune reconstitution, graft-versus-leukemia, and graft-versus-host disease following allogeneic transplantation. The PDCMF staff also work closely with principal investigators to offer advice and procedures for efficient and consistent collection of biospecimens as well as analytical endpoints.
