RESEARCH SUMMARY
I am interested in how the immune system is subverted by the nascent tumor to support tumor growth and metastatic spread. Using mouse models of mammary tumor progression and metastasis and single cell sequencing I hope to identify and validate molecular targets that can prevent or treat metastasis or increase the efficacy of standard chemotherapy or immunotherapy. My current focus is on tumor-associated myeloid cells that exist in an altered and pathological state that does not exist in non-tumor-bearing animals. My interest in myeloid inflammation as it relates to spontaneous stroke is always at the back of my mind.
