CCR has a thriving clinical research program where 35 multi-disciplinary teams led by the nation’s physician-science experts are working to create the medicines of tomorrow.  Our highly specialized oncology research teams develop and run novel clinical trials and provide compassionate care to our patients in the NIH Clinical Center, located in Bethesda, Maryland.

The Office of the Clinical Director supports our clinical research program with a robust infrastructure by providing:

• biostatistical expertise for trial design and analysis,
• administrative support for protocol review and monitoring processes,
• training of clinical research personnel,
• outreach to promote patient accrual,
• data management, auditing and monitoring of in-house and multi-institutional trials, and
• informatics for data collection and storage.

The office also serves as the interface between CCR and the NIH Clinical Center, the nation's largest hospital devoted entirely to clinical research. The NIH Clinical Center is home to units and clinics that treat patients with cancer, HIV and immunodeficiencies who are on CCR clinical trials and includes 242 in-patient beds and 90 day-hospital stations.
