Job Description

A postdoctoral position is available in the Bladder Cancer Section laboratory headed by Dr. Andrea B. Apolo, MD., within the Genitourinary Malignancies Branch (GMB), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), NCI, NIH in Bethesda, Maryland. This position will be funded by an intramural Cancer Research Training/Visiting Fellowship and will be renewed on a yearly basis for a maximum of 5 years.

The postdoctoral fellow will join a team working primarily on bladder cancer and especially focusing on targeted therapies, mechanisms of drug resistance, genomics, and immunotherapy.  The lab is also working on identifying new markers and therapeutic targets for rare Genitourinary tumors.

GMB is part of CCR, NCI’s largest intramural program. The GMB is a vibrant, multidisciplinary research community featuring innovative, high-impact bench-to-bedside research and close collaboration between physicians and scientists with a primary focus on genitourinary cancers.

Required and Preferred Skills

Required Skills
  • Strong foundation in cell and molecular biology.
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and genome editing tools.
  • Expertise in cancer immunology research.
  • Proficiency in animal handling techniques.
  • Familiarity with current Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) methods and applications.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within a team and independent work.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of motivation, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
