RESEARCH SUMMARY
Tito Mendoza is a psychometrician who was instrumental in the development and validation of several multi-symptom and single symptom assessment tools. He was involved in several aspects of the development and validation of the patient-reported outcomes version of the Common Terminology Criteria Adverse Event (PRO-CTCAE) funded by the National Cancer Institute. His collaborative interests are in the design, analysis and interpretation of studies incorporating patient-reported outcomes (PRO) in early phase clinical trials.
Areas of Expertise
Tito R. Mendoza, Ph.D., M.S., M.Ed.
Research
Dr. Mendoza’s current collaboration includes investigating symptomatic toxicities associated with combination therapies that include immune checkpoint inhibitors with other cancer therapeutics. We hypothesized that longitudinal change in patient-reported symptoms may be useful in predicting the risk of severe immune-related toxicity.
With the newly established Office of Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (OPCORe) and its mission of understanding the clinical benefit and tolerability of cancer therapies by integrating patient-centered approaches into CCR clinical trials and by fostering inclusive education and collaborations with stakeholders, Dr. Mendoza and Team OPCORe seeks collaboration with CCR researchers who are interested in incorporating patient-centered outcomes assessment in their clinical trials.
