RESEARCH SUMMARY

Theressa Ewa is a second-year NIH/University of Cambridge PhD candidate currently working with Dr. Xin Wang (NCI) and Prof. Daniel Muñoz-Espin (Cambridge). Theressa graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Currently in the Laboratory of Human Carcinogenesis, she is studying early detection mechanisms that can be used to identify individuals at-risk of developing liver and lung cancer. The goals of her PhD are to advance early detection methodologies and address issues in cancer health disparities to better create predictors of cancer prognosis in historically excluded populations.
