RESEARCH SUMMARY
Dr. Nagarsheth joined the ID-CTP as a Staff Scientist in 2021. She studies immune deficiencies (such as DOCK8, WAS, and various types of SCID disorders) and develops effective treatments, which include tailored cellular therapy and hematopoietic stem cell transplant. She examines immune cell crosstalk, functionality, and reconstitution over time after treatment, with the goal of improving treatment for these disorders. Her research also focuses on understanding basic immune cell function and biology through studying these deficiencies.

Biography
Nisha B. Nagarsheth, Ph.D.
Dr. Nagarsheth went to Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of FAU (Go Owls!) for her undergraduate liberal arts studies. She then joined the University of Michigan Ann Arbor (Go Blue!) where she did her doctoral work in the laboratory of Dr. Weiping Zou in cancer immunology, examining the tumor-immune system crosstalk. She joined NCI in 2017 as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Dr. Christian Hinrichs lab where she focused on translational and clinical cancer immunotherapy. She was involved in studying clinical samples from clinical trials of adoptive T cell therapy of genetically engineered T cells for treatment of HPV-16+ cancers. Using human samples (blood and tissue), she performed various immunological and genomic studies to understand why certain patients responded to therapy (and others did not) and to discover determinants that predict response to therapy. With her keen interest in human immunology and clinical research, Dr. Nagarsheth joined ID-CTP in 2021 and was appointed Staff Scientist.
