RESEARCH SUMMARY
Leah DeLorenzo is interested in understanding how diversity in form arises. She combines developmental, genetic and bioinformatic approaches to identify mechanisms that contribute to morphological variation in the limb. Her project focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms that are important for phalanx formation (number) and termination (size of phalanx). She will use single cell RNA-sequencing to assess cell specific RNA expression patterns over the course of digit development in the chick model system.
