RESEARCH SUMMARY
Dr. Gagan is a molecular pathologist. He is interested in identifying characteristic biomarkers of rare tumors, and how to integrate DNA mutations with RNA and epigenetic data in a clinical setting.

Research
Dr. Gagan has published extensively on molecular characterization of rare tumors and finding new diagnostic biomarkers. He is also interested in taking global molecular characterization (e.g. whole genome, transcriptome, methylome) and turning it into concise clinically reportable information.

Biography
Jeffrey Gagan, M.D.,Ph.D.
Dr. Gagan received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Virginia with his dissertation focused on microRNA and tissue development. He then completed a pathology residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a molecular pathology fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Prior to coming to the NCI, Dr. Gagan was an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he was the director of the Clinical NGS Lab.
