RESEARCH SUMMARY
Clare is studying how adult regenerative abilities are established during planarian embryogenesis. In particular, she is interested in how patterning mechanisms are established and how the interplay between stem cells and surrounding tissues contributes to regeneration competence.

Biography
Clare L. Booth, B.S.
Clare Booth received her B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of Chicago, where she worked for three years in the laboratory of Dr. Victoria Prince studying neural crest cell development in zebrafish. In her final year, she participated in the Research Honors program, through which she completed a bachelors thesis examining the genetic regulation of neural crest regionalization and its evolution in vertebrates. After graduating, she joined the lab of Dr. Erin Davies at NCI, where she is studying the development of regenerative abilities in planarian flatworms. In the future, she plans to pursue Ph.D. studies in cell and developmental biology.
