Kyle Smith received his Bachelor’s in Biology and Psychology at The University at Buffalo in New York. He completed a Master’s in Biology at Queens College under Dr. Zahra Zakeri studying sex differences in primary macrophages following influenza infection. Kyle then joined the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Stony Brook University where he began his thesis work with Dr. Laurie Krug before transitioning to the National Cancer Institute in 2019. He studies the enzymatic properties of the Murine gammaherpesvirus 68 Uracil DNA Glycosylase and its possible role in the viral replication complex.
