Karington Perry is a Summer Intern in the Cancer Research Interns Summer Program (CRI SP) under the mentorship of Dr. Joe T. Nguyen, D.D.S., Ph.D. Karington is obtaining her B.S. in Biology with a Pre-Med concentration and a minor in Chemistry from Elizabeth City State University. During her undergraduate career, Karington conducted research in breast and pancreatic cancer biology in addition to fungal interventions with chemotherapy approaches. In the Nguyen Lab, Karington is utilizing molecular biology and biochemistry techniques to optimize key mTOR targets, including mEAK-7, for fluorescent detection and analysis. Following her time at the NIH, Karington plans to pursue MD training with current interests in surgical oncology and neuroscience.
