Our weekly didactics are led by Christopher Pleyer, M.D. and Kamil Rechache, M.D., our associate program directors for hematology and medical oncology, respectively and both alumni of the NIH Hematology Oncology Fellowship. Our didactics events are held on Wednesdays and Fridays, and fellows from all years attend. Our didactics feature innovative educational techniques such as flipped classroom, and didactics sessions are available virtually and recorded for later study and review. Didactic session formats include tumor boards, case presentations, Morbidity and Mortality conferences, and journal clubs led by fellows. Program faculty speak about their areas of expertise at the core oncology, hematology and transplant lectures, as well as the monthly inpatient walk rounds and board reviews. Our director, Jennifer Kanakry, M.D., leads monthly "pulse-taking" sessions soliciting feedback from the fellows with a focus on well-being and program improvement.
