Sean Patro earned his Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology from the University of Pennsylvania under the mentorship of Dr. Luis J. Montaner at the Wistar Institute.  His current studies focus on understanding the HIV-1 reservoir during ART, including the size, genetic structure, and host integration location of intact HIV-1 proviruses.  Sean published his recent observations of HIV-1 proviral reconstruction in PNAS (116:25891-25899, 2019).  In addition to his research, Sean is dedicated to mentoring postbacs and graduate students in the Kearney lab.  He was awarded a CROI New Investigator Scholarship in 2020.
