Margaret E. Gatti-Mays, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Gatti-Mays is a Staff Clinician (physician) in the Laboratory of Tumor Immunology and Biology. Her primary interests are immuno-oncology and breast cancer. Her research is based in the clinic and is focused on the use of cancer vaccines in combination with other treatment modalities (i.e., immunotherapy agents, chemotherapy, small molecules, immune modulators) to help the immune system recognize and kill cancer cells. Dr. Gatti-Mays also has an interest in health disparities in cancer research and health literacy issues related to clinical trial participation.

Dr. Gatti-Mays is a breast immuno-oncologist in the Laboratory of Tumor Immunology and Biology (LTIB). Her research is based in the Oncology Clinic. She focuses on tumor immunology and the development of novel immunotherapy approaches for breast cancer using therapeutic cancer vaccines, antibodies or immune modulators.

Dr Gatti-Mays earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology from Trinity College (Hartford, CT) in 2005 and a Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University (Atlanta, GA). She received a M.D. from Georgetown University School of Medicine (Washington, DC) in 2011. Following graduation in 2014 from an internal medicine residency at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital (Washington,DC), she was selected to serve as Chief Resident (2014-2015). In 2017, she completed fellowship in medical oncology at NCI and then joined the Laboratory of Tumor Immunology and Biology as a Staff Clinician. She is Co-Director of the LTIB's Clinical Trials Group.
Dr. Gatti-Mays is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
