New clinical trial opens to provide evaluation, tumor profiling and follow-up of patients with gastric tumors
In the U.S., gastric cancers are rare but deadly. Some studies have classified gastric tumors according to their molecular characteristics, but these findings have not yet been used to improve treatment of the disease. Jeremy Davis, M.D., Staff Clinician in the Thoracic and Gastrointestinal Oncology Branch, is leading a team of researchers who will collect samples of gastric tumor tissue from patients. These samples will then be evaluated and classified by their genetic characteristics and unique biomarkers. The goal is to use the molecular profiles to design treatments that work better by targeting a specific cancer tumor profile. This study is for research purposes only.
