Charalampos Floudas, MD, DMSc, MS

Dr. Floudas designs and conducts early-phase clinical trials for solid tumors, focusing on head and neck cancers (HNC). He is treating patients with combinations of immunotherapy, chemotherapy and other treatment modalities. Dr. Floudas is also interested in the application of artificial intelligence and data science to omics data for immunotherapy biomarker discovery.

Dr Floudas’ research focuses in head and neck cancer and tumor immunology. He is working closely with the scientists of the Laboratory of Tumor Immunology and Biology and the Otolaryngology Surgeon-Scientists of the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, and is studying novel combinations of immunotherapeutic agents aiming to improve the efficacy of immunotherapy in head and neck cancers.

Dr. Floudas received his medical degree from the University of Crete, Greece, (2000), and then served as a physician in the Greek National Health System (2002) and the Greek Army (2003) . He completed an internal medicine residency at the First Department of Internal Medicine of the National University of Athens, Greece (2008), where he remained as a Research Associate of the Oncology Section (2010), and received a research doctorate in medicine from the same university (2009). After moving to the USA, he received a Master’s degree in Biomedical Informatics from the University of Pittsburgh (2012), and then he was a visiting research scholar in the Center for Health and Biomedical Informatics of the New York University (2013). He completed an internal medicine residency at the Maimonides Medical Center (Brooklyn, NY) in 2016. Subsequently, he completed a medical oncology fellowship at the NCI (2019), during which he was assistant chief fellow, and then joined the Genitourinary Malignancies Branch as an Assistant Research Physician.
Dr Floudas is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and board certified in Medical Oncology. He has received awards from the Greek State National Merit Scholarship Program and the Gerondelis Foundation. In 2019, he received the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) GI19 Conquer Cancer Foundation Merit Award for his work in immunotherapy.
