We are looking for an experienced professional to develop and implement an evidence-based training program to develop the next generation of surgeon scientists. The position is with our Surgical Oncology Program in the world’s largest dedicated research hospital at the National Cancer Institute’s Center for Cancer Research on its campus in Bethesda, Maryland. The selected candidate will examine the challenges to conducting meaningful surgical research, study existing successful models for the development of surgeon-scientists and explore the programmatic development of the future surgeon-scientist. The candidate will interface with national surgeon-scientist leaders and academic surgical societies. Working with Surgical Oncology Program leadership, the selectee will then implement, manage and study a training program for early stage surgeon-scientists.

Experience Required: 
  • Masters Degree or Ph.D. in a scientific field
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in biology or related field
  • Experience designing, developing, and managing professional training programs for large research institutions
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with web design and social media

Job will be performed at the Clinical Research Center located in Bethesda, Maryland, on the campus of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The NIH is metro accessible via the Red Line.

Bethesda is located adjacent to Washington, D.C. and is an urban core of Montgomery County, MD. Bethesda is one of the most affluent and highly educated communities in the United States. It is a vibrant town, and a destination for shopping, dining and artistic and cultural events.
