Dr. Kesarwala's research interests include molecular imaging, DNA repair pathways, and cancer cell metabolism. She is involved in the development of novel molecular imaging agents relevant to the response of tumors to radiation therapy. She also studies pre-clinical radiation modifiers and the interaction of DNA repair pathways and radiation response. Clinically, Dr. Kesarwala treats all types of cancers commonly treated with radiation therapy, including lung and breast cancers.

Dr. Kesarwala received an AB degree in chemistry summa cum laude from Princeton University and medical and graduate degrees from the Washington University School of Medicine. She completed internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital and radiation oncology residency at the National Cancer Institute/National Capital Consortium. Following the completion of her training, she became an Assistant Clinical Investigator in the Radiation Oncology Branch of the NCI.
