Biography
Dr. Gustchina received her Ph. D. degree in 1984 at the Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology, Moscow, Russia. She worked there in the protein crystallography laboratory headed by Professor Natalia Andreeva. She joined the Macromolecular Crystallography Laboratory in 1989 and was appointed Staff Scientist in 1999.Research
My major research goal is to investigate structure-function relationship for a number of proteins, with particular emphasis on studies of aspartic proteases from mammals, parasites, and retroviruses. Other projects included studies of ATP-dependent protease Lon and serine-carboxyl proteases (sedolisins). I have been also involved in structural investigations of retroviral integrases.
