Dr. Cristina Bergamaschi received her Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine specializing in Immunology from the University of Milan, Italy, in 2008. After postdoctoral training in the Human Retrovirus Section, Vaccine Branch, NCI, Dr. Bergamaschi joined the Human Retrovirus Pathogenesis Section, Vaccine Branch, NCI as a Staff Scientist in 2012.


Dr. Bergamaschi's research focus is on the regulation of immunity in cancer and infectious disease. Her main project investigates the molecular biology of cytokines, in particular IL-15, and their role in lymphocytes homeostasis with the ultimate goal to develop improved vaccine and immune therapy strategies for clinical applications.
