Dr. Luo received both her bachelor and master's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Wuhan University, Wuhan, China. She received her Ph.D. in biology in 2000 at the Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York. She joined Dr. Paul Randazzo's lab as postdoctoral fellow in 2004 and was appointed staff scientist in the Laboratory of Cellular Molecular Biology in 2009.


Dr. Luo's current research interests include: kinetics studies of Arf-Arf GAP interactions leading to GTP hydrolysis; structural analysis of the interface of Arf-Arf GAP; and Arf GAP functions in membrane trafficking and remodeling of cytoskeleton.
