Blue structures are the nuclei of pulmonary artery endothelial cells stained with 4-6-diamidino-2-phenylindole. Galactomannan from A. fumigatus is detected as an early biomarker of invasion in the vascular compartment at the earliest microscopically apparent breach through the endothelial monolayer. |
