Senior Tenure-Track or Tenure-Eligible Investigator Position in Structural Biology
and Biophysics
The Structural Biophysics Laboratory (SBL), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), National
Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health
and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking an outstanding tenure-track or tenure-eligible
principal investigator to carry out original, independent, and innovative research
in an area of Structural Biology or Biophysics integrated with molecular biology.
This intramural position is similar to that of an associate (or higher) professor
in academia.
Areas of emphasis include structural biology of biomacromolecular systems and/or
characterization of dynamic assembly/function of macromolecular complexes that impact
the biological processes relevant to cancer and/or AIDS. The incumbent will establish/continue
a highly competitive and collaborative program, with an emphasis on utilization
of NMR spectroscopy, including solid-state NMR. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or
equivalent degree and have demonstrated expertise and a record of achievement.
The position is located at the Frederick National Lab, MD campus, which offers state-of-the-art
facilities for NMR, SAXS and structural biology, collaborative opportunities with
the Chemical Biology Laboratory and Molecular Targets Laboratory, as well as core
facilities for biophysics, mass spectrometry; protein expression and proteomics;
electron, optical and small animal imaging and other advanced technologies.
Consideration of applicants will begin February 16, 2012 and will continue until
the position is filled. Salary is competitive and is commensurate with experience
and full benefits (including retirement, health insurance, life insurance, and
a Thrift Savings Plan). This position is not restricted to U.S. citizens.
