NIH Chronic GVHD Program
The NIH Intramural chronic GVHD Program was initiated in January 2003 with the goal of creating a high-quality multidisciplinary clinical and research program focusing on those challenges that can be uniquely addressed at the NIH.
Today, this program is a dynamic, interdisciplinary collaboration that involves representatives from 10 NIH institutes and several departments within the NIH Clinical Center. The main objectives are:
- Establishing a multidisciplinary trans-NIH chronic GVHD clinic
- Creating a platform for developing chronic GVHD evaluation tools
- Pursuing studies of chronic GVHD pathophysiology
- Developing new treatments
- Providing leadership in the field — regional, national, and international
