Dr. Xue Zhi Zhao (Burke Group) has been awarded an Intramural AIDS Targeted Antiviral Program (IATAP) Award for his proposal entitled, “Design and Synthesis of New Agents Targeting Raltegravir-resistant Mutants of HIV-1 Integrase.” The IATAP program is a competitive mechanism within the Office of the Director, NIH, which provides funds for the development of targeted anti-virals for HIV, structural and functional studies of HIV proteins, or closely related areas in the molecular and cell biology of HIV. The award supports the work of the CBL Staff Scientist, Dr. Xue Zhi Zhao, author of the proposal. Dr. Zhao’s work is a collaborative undertaking with investigators from the laboratories of Dr. Yves Pommier and Dr. Stephen Hughes (both of the NCI) and Dr. Peter Cherepanov (London Research Institute).
