Dr. Medhanit Bahta (a CRTA Fellow in the CBL Burke group) has received a Collaborative
Project Award (CPA) sponsored by the National Interagency Confederation for Biological
Research (NICBR). Her proposal is centered on the application of substrate activity
screening for the development of the Vaccinia virus VH1 phosphatase. This work will
be conducted in collaboration with Dr. Bryan Zhao of the Laboratory of Molecular
Immunology at the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID).
The CPA program is designed to foster scientific interaction by supporting new projects
which specifically benefit from the expertise available in NICBR labs. This award
provides $10,000 to each investigator.
