Dr. Natasha Caplen, Head of the Gene Silencing Section in CCR's Genetic Branch, walks you through her lab and explains how she uses a gene silencing mechanism called RNA interference (RNAi) to selectively switch off one gene at a time. This technology allows her to discover a gene's function. Caplen uses this information to find new cancer treatment targets and possible agents that can block these targets.
