We have a post-baccalaureate position available in the Oncogenomics Section, Pediatric Oncology Branch, NCI for two years starting July/August 2013 for candidates interested in immunotherapy of cancer. The project is to investigate antibody-mediated, targeted killing of human cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. The work involves cell culturing, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, production and purification of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), characterization of mAbs using a variety of techniques including ELISA, Westernblot, immunohistochemistry, chromatography, BiaCore; RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, PCR amplification of Ig genes and antibody engineering, gene cloning and expression in bacteria and mammalian cells, production of immunotoxin by recombinant DNA technology, in vitro tumor cell killing assays, in vivo imaging and killing of tumor xenografts using moue models of cancer. Prior demonstrated experience in one or more of these technical skills would be a plus, however, all this can be learnt with dedication and interest.

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the US , major in Biology/Biochemistry/Cell & Molecular Biology/Immunology/Cancer Biology or related subjects. Candidates with strong interest in immunotherapy of human cancers are preferred. While prior basic knowledge in the subject area and technical experience will be desirable, these can be acquired during the project time.
