Position Description: We are looking for a highly motivated, interactive individual to join our team whose aim is to integrate the translational basic research of immunotherapy using mouse models into the development of effective immunotherapy and cancer vaccines. The projects include development of novel vaccines targeting potential antigenic viral and cellular oncogenes including vaccines targeting angiogenesis, development of improved and more effective vaccine delivery by manipulating the immune system, and understanding the mechanism of the immune response to vaccination. The currents projects involve testing experiemntal tumor vaccines in mice for proof of concept prior to moving these studies into phase I clinical trials. We are looking for a candiate who has extensive knowledge of and work experience with tumor mouse models systems and mouse immunobiology and vaccinations. A solid understanding in immunology is a prerequisite.
Experience Required: Applicants should possess a PhD or equivalent degree.
Additional Information: Appointment duration is for up to 5 years, renewed on a yearly basis. Stipend is based on education and experience. Candidates must have an understanding of cellular immunology, a detailed knowledge of how to design and perform work using mice, and skill at mouse vaccination. The position involves the ability to discuss scientific data and strategy with diverse members of the team and with collaborators. Good verbal and written English skills are required. The successful candidate will be in an excellent position to learn a wide variety of new techniques as well as participating in joint laboratory meetings/seminars with other members of the Vaccine Branch.
