The CCR Office of the Director (CCR-OD) centrally funds several NCI animal services for investigators, including cryopreservation, transgenic mouse production and knockout mouse production. New mouse models/strains generated through this process often require extensive advanced planning to ensure that the infrastructure is in place to support the animal projects for which they are proposed (such as animal space, technical support, ACUC and safety approval, etc.). In order to alleviate last-minute resource requests and assist with strategic planning for the CCR Animal Program, all PIs will need to obtain CCR-OD approval for use of these core services in advance. Requests to use these services should be entered through the CCR Resource Request System (RRS) by selecting the request type: Animals – core services. The RRS is located within the CCR Portal at: http://ccrintra.cancer.gov/cms/login/login.asp. The online form requests information required from the investigator to evaluate the request. Requests will be evaluated in the context of infrastructure and facilities (such as animal space, ancillary requirements, etc.). Investigators are encouraged to discuss their project requirements with the core service provider prior to entering the RRS request. If you need assistance with the RRS submission or have any questions regarding this process, please contact Mary Custer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
